Vaishali, new kid on the block

She walks the ramp with a stylish, yet confident stride. Vaishali Desai is being touted as the next big thing in modelling circles.
Interestingly, this Gujarati beauty is actually a Bangalorean by birth settled in Mumbai. Modelling for her, "just happened by chance. I was academically inclined. In fact, I topped my final exams, that took place right after a national beauty pageant that I had participated in," says Vaishali with a hint of pride in her voice."I was a psychology student and hope to continue my studies," she says.
A relatively new face in modelling , Vaishali managed to carve a niche for herself by doing select commercials and music videos. "I was very careful about the projects I took on. So much so that people now know me as selective," she says.
Are television and films in the offing? "There have been film offers, from both Bollywood as well as the South. But it's too early to talk about them. As for television, well, one should never say no..., " she trails off.
Her vivacious nature comes across as a surprise. Tell her that, and she looks surprised: "Really? Even my mother says I laugh too much at home, but the truth is that I'm extremely reserved by nature and don't open up too easily."
So, is she living alone in Mumbai? "Oh no. My entire family, including my sisters, has shifted with me."
Although her spoken Gujarati seems rusty, Vaishali insists she can manage "speaking a bit and can even read it. My mother made it a point that we do so."
